Musical Career (Biography) 2004 Worked on the revised edition of Sitson Ma's unaccompanied violin sonata scores and master pieces that published from Ongaku no Tomo Sha in 2004. One of the pieces was selected as the theme for Beijing Violin Contest March to April. Recordings of 2 CDs "Violin Pieces of Sitson Ma's Latest Years" and "International Violin Pieces; My Melodies of the Heart" May. A concert at Ginza Oji Hall "Liu Wei Violin Concert; Commemorating the Release of her CDs". 2003 December Lecture at Women's Center in Minato Ward "Perspectives on Music, Child Rearing and the Independence of Women. A Talk from Experience". Concerto and a social gathering at Ginza Lion Classic Hall for her fan club. November Concert at Tsurumaki Junior High School. Concert and a lecture at Oyu Gakuen "A Violinist Brought Up During the Cultural Revolution of China; Liu Wei". Concert at Yurin Home No. 2 for the disabled. Liu Wei's Church Concerts at Yotsuya Shinsei Church. Concert at Ginza Oji Hall with internationally acknowledged pianist Dalton Baldwin. July First public performance of Sitson Ma's Violin Concerto in F Major with Orchestra Nipponica at Kioi Hall. 2003 May Violin Recitals "Three Consecutive Violin Recitals by Liu Wei: Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of Liu Wei's Coming to Japan" at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall and Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo and at Phoenix in Osaka. NHK broadcasted these recitals on BS2 Recital at Nasu Harmony Hall. 2002: December Invited by Beijing Central Conservatory of Music in commemoration of Sitson Ma's 90th birthday. Held a violin solo recital introducing Sitson Ma's works. 2001: October Concert at Kioi Hall First public performance of Sitson Ma's unaccompanied violin sonata. (This performance was broadcasted on NHK-FM in January and September, 2002) 2000: October Concert with North American Elite Youth Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. Recital at Calive Hall in Philadelphia. August Concert with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra at Minato Mirai Hall First public performance of the works by the Taiwan composer Yau-Kwong Chung. 1999: December CD "Wei Liu" was charted among the top 10 classical music on the Record Geijitu Chart. Wei Liu was born in 1963,She study the violin at seven years old,and atseven Teen entered the Xian Conservatory of Musicテ⑤Wei Liu came to Japan in1986, Since then she has perfomed on numerous occasions further cultural Exchange between China and Japan.In particular,she has been highly esteemed as a specialist on Sitson Ma, a composer influential in Chinese history, and was the first musician to introduce Sitson Ma's unknown works to Japan, including the Violin Concerto in F Major. She also introduced works by modern Japanese composers into her performances, including Akio Yashiro's unpublished violin sonata and Sokichi Ozaki's violin sonata. Her introduction of little-known but significant Japanese compositions has been applauded in Japan. |
